Sixteen
Serafina Cusack
How do you take your coffee?
I imagine you take it black
Because all I know about you is that
you’re wise.
But I don’t want to assume
Because I don’t know you anymore and
The danger lies in thinking that I do.
So I ask
And you say black as the night
And I know you a little more.
I know that you take your coffee black
and I know that the night is dark
where you are.
