Coming Full Circle
Ute Carson
There was a young man and a young woman
unaware what life might have in store.
Being in love was enough to believe in the future.
How did they weather conflicts?
Was it persistence? Chance? Love?
They were tossed by gusts of wind
but never lost their mooring.
A conciliatory word could penetrate any wall between them.
What had set off a spark,
in old age started to burn again with a youthful passion.
“Only You” they would utter once more.
They received much through the years,
and now they continued to drink
from that ever-flowing fountain of love.
The end reflected the beginning.
